Description
BALKHATIN, the Ball Snail Pokémon. Its territory is marked by up to how far its SPIKES can reach in one strike. It pretends to be a Poké Ball to lure prey. When victims are weakened by the SPIKES, BALKHATIN feeds off of their bodily fluids.
Name Origin: BALK [an obstacle or hindrance] or poké BALl [or simply BALl] or BuLK [of great size, volume, or magnitude] and AcHATINidae [family of unusually large African terrestrial snails]
Type: Bug
Ability: Hydration or Shell Armor or OvercoatPDW
Evolution: Ballusk ---Level 35---> Balkhatin
Moves Learned: Same as Ballusk, but learns Spikes upon evolution and Spike Cannon as ultimate move, and can also relearn Toxic Spikes; Iron Defense is breedable to Balkhatin's evo family; good TMs for Balkhatin are Return, Focus Blast, Energy Ball, Toxic, Sludge Bomb, and Venoshock
Base Stats:
HP: 60
ATK: 85
DEF: 111
SP ATK: 85
SP DEF: 101
SPD: 30
TOTAL: 472
For a very critical reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all future ers and ers of my works.
EDIT 11042012: Decided to remove the Normal typing, making Balkhatin a pure Bug-type.
So again, here's the mollusk evolutionary line I was working on before I did Panophon. Inspired by Poké Ball-camouflaging Electrode and Amoonguss, here's the final stage Ball Snail Fakemon, Balkhatin! I choose you, !
Balkhatin based on a Poké Ball [hence the Shell Armor Ability] and a snail, specifically that of the Achatinidae family of giant African snails. Balkhatins reside in marshes and are totally in love with rainy weather [hence the Hydration Ability], so when passing by such areas, expect more of its kind suddenly popping out of the grass [of course, in their distracting Poké Ball camouflage]. Interestingly, when I was researching for a sutaible Dream World Ability for Balkhatin, I found out that it shares the same Hydration/Shell Armor regular Abilities with Shelmet, so I went with Shelmet's protective Overcoat Hidden Ability as well. Thanks, Shelmet! And thanks to Amoonguss, too, for the warts-y design! It made my Balkhatin look a lot more of an evolved form from Ballusk than if it was left without warts! Lol! Go, warts!
Like the level required for evolution [Ballusk->Balkhatin is at 35, Voltorb->Electrode is at 30, and Foongus to Amoonguss is at 39], Balkhatin's stat total is midway Electrode's 480 and Amoonguss' 464, settling at a good 472. It was rather easy to improve Balkhatin's individual stats, as I simply added 30 points to each of them except for Speed, which I gave only 10 points. Hey, it's a snail after all! This means Balkhatin would have good 85 each on Attack and Special Attack [which are incidentally similar to Amoonguss ], monster 111 Defense and 101 Special Defense, a mediocre HP at 60, and a very low 30 for Speed. It would really be both funny and humiliating if a Balkhatin happens to 'Run Away' in a wild battle! Lol!
Move-wise, Balkhatin has the same movepool as Ballusk, but with three additions: Spike upon evolving, Spike Cannon after all of Ballusk's moves, and a relearnable Toxic Spikes. These three originate from the little protrusion in Balkhatin's Poké Ball 'button'. I didn't want to give Balkhatin a lot of spikes all over its shell a la Omastar because that would destroy the Poké Ball camouflage. I mean, who would like to touch a spiky Poké Ball, right? And I am a supporter of simpler Pokémon designs from Gen I, so I decided to keep the shell as it was with Ballusk.
Balkhatin is a Wall-Tank. Period. While Amoonguss boasts its 114 HP and Electrode takes pride in its 140 Speed, Balkhatin shines with its 111 defense and 101 Special Defense, plus a breedable Iron Defense. Walling, check! Oh, and Recover makes it healthy by half its maximum HP! Tanking, check! Lol! But wait, there's more!Balkhatin's Spike Cannon receives STAB [as compared to Cloyster, Omastar, and Corsola], so there's a good option for a strong offense! Well, Double-Edge and Explosion are more powerful, but they have negative effects on Balkhatin [recoil and fainting, respectively]. Return TM is there, though, like how a real Poké Ball returns to the Trainer. Lol! Bug Buzz or U-Turn [for the returning Poké Ball theme ] provides Bug STAB offensive; Double-Edge or TM Return gives a great coverage for neutral damage, along with TM Focus Blast and TM Energy Ball from Accelgor's TM movepool; and Gyro Ball with that low 30 Speed would prove to be lethal! If you're not running Gyro Ball, Shell Smash is a good way to make Balkhatin more offensive. And of course, Balkhatin is made for annoyance: Yawn, TM Toxic or TM Sludge Bomb [plus the powered-up TM Venoshock once poisoned], Selfdestruct/Explosion when things are going awry, and Spikes and Toxic Spikes for entry hazards. Yawn and U-turn works well with proper prediction [Yawn, then U-turn to something that can take on Balkhatin's weaknesses] for scouting. And with Spikes/Toxic Spikes in the battle field, you're sure to be crippling the enemy team little by little as they try to break Balkhatin's strong defenses. Sooo annoying!
Balkhatin is mine!
Panophon is also mine!

Nice idea. Interesting take on the"Pokeball look alike" of your region.
Although I think that it looks abit too similar to its previous form. I'm not really sure what I would change though because I really do like the design of this fakemon. I just think an evolution should cause more of a change.
Then again Poliwrath might as well be an angry Poliwhirl so I guess its not a major issue.
