Fakemon KONZERU

KONZERU, the Elegance Pokémon. KONZERU is one of the most beautiful Pokémon in existence, even rivalling MILOTIC's beauty. The gems that it carries above and below its neck are said to be remnants of the SHINY STONE that it used upon evolution, and they are believed to amplify KONZERU's already powerful PSYCHIC abilities. The view of its fully grown wings flapping and ribbon-like tailfeathers flowing as it flies gives KONZERU the category "Elegance Pokémon." It is said that the longer the tailfeathers and the brighter the colors a KONZERU has, the more experienced it is.

For a very critical reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all future ers and ers of my works.

Lo and behold, the final stage of Packu: the Elegance Pokémon, Konzeru! *clapping hands* Isn't she a beauty? Finally, I'm done with the final evolution for 's contest. Believe me, drafting Konzeru is a pain in the ass! And coloring it is even worse! But I am waaay more than satisfied with the end result! Yay, me!

It was already a challenge to connect Packu and Konzeru [the contest is to make a Fanmon or Fakemon that is the middle stage for this evo line], and doing this Konzeru fanart first before my middle stage made things worse for me! I mean Packu is a simple dragon-ish peacock with a fan for a tail, and here I have a very detalied Konzeru fanart. I am just glad that I love taking challenges like this head-on [even self-imposed ones]!

Now, let's talk about the differences I made in this fanart from that of the original Konzeru. The original version has very long but rather thin wingspan and quite a plump body. Honestly, it didn't quite appeal to me, so what I did was to minimize both: I shortened the wingspan but gave it larger outer wings then narrow them down towards the body, just for the beautiful effect when flapping or folding halfway [seen in the fanart pose above]; then I also reduced Konzeru's body, because the main attraction in this Fakemon should mostly be its tail, then its head; however, on the part where Konzeru's wings and body connects, I added long wingfeathers that change colors at the tip [much like its wings] to add flowing elegance to beauty. They are like the sixth and seventh tailfeathers when Konzeru is flying! Yay!

Also, I changed the yellow swirling stripe on Konzeru's neck into three necklace-ish bands, as though Konzeru is wearing them much like Giratina. I retained the glowing orbs that Packu has, but made them really, really small, so that the attention would turn to the gems that are floating above and below Konzeru's head. I also made a nice explanation for the sudden appearance of those gems in the Dex entry: they are remnants of the Shiny Stone that amplifies Konzeru's Psychic power. Nice alibi, lol. By the way, the Packu-to-Konzeru evolution line mirrors the Togepi-to-Togekiss evolution line, and that is where I got the idea to use Happiness and then Shiny Stone as evolution methods for this Fakemon line. Hehe.

Tailfeathers-wise, I kinda like the idea of the original—a long, single, tailfeather with smaller details branching out. But the shape of it is rather bushy [pointing to a Grass typing which I evaded in my version of Packu, you know, the removal of those florets-ish things sprouting above Packu's head]. My Packu's tailfeathers point to separation and growth, and that's the direction I took instead. Konzeru's tailfeathers are now larger and are separated from each other. And each uniformly has the eyespot for Konzeru's Intimidate Ability [the other Ability is still Synchronize like Xatu]. Unlike Packu's tailfeathers, Konzeru's are more flowing and moving, hence the "Elegance" category.

Move-wise, Konzeru is the Togekiss of its evolution line: no level-up moves, just four relearnable ones. While Togekiss has Sky Attack, Extremespeed, Aura Sphere, and Air Slash to learn, Konzeru has Brave Bird, Psychic, Power Gem [or Gems, since Konzeru has two], and Air Slash, too. Togekiss has three STABbed moves among the four [barring Aura Sphere], and I copied this with Konzeru [barring Power Gem]. Good thinking!

Konzeru's stats are extensions of Packu's. The stat total, once again, is from Togekiss, since Konzeru mirrors the Jubilee Pokémon. Konzeru shares the same 85 HP with Togekiss, while my Elegance Fakemon has 10 less Attack than the Jubilee Pokémon's 50. Konzeru has 90 Defense [five less than Togekiss'] and 100 Speed [20 more than Togekiss' since Konzeru has a more streamlined body than the white chubby bird]. The two powerful Flying-types have 115 Special Defense, but my Konzeru only has the same 115 in Special Attack, five less than Togekiss' 120.

I built Konzeru as a strictly Special Sweeper Fakemon, and it is meant to be used that way. Like Togekiss, Konzeru has above average Tanking defenses. However, unlike Togekiss, Konzeru concentrates on damage instead of causing a lot of status ailments [lacking Togekiss' Serene Grace Ability]. Still, Intimidate and Synchronize has its own uses, which somehow widens Konzeru's strategy to include being an Anti-Physical Sweeper or Anti-Annoyer. Air Slash and Psychic are STABbed, while Power Gem and Petal Dance [from Konzeru's pre-evo and Packu's evo; just like Togetic having Magical Leaf] covers a lot of other types for at least neutral damage. Wish [pre-evos' move] is a considerable Cleric move, too, while Silver Wind [another pre-evos' move] is a rather surprising move for Konzeru to have, especially once the boost to all its stats kicks in. It really is up to the Trainer to choose which among these limited options his or her Konzeru should take. But it seems Konzeru's technique is centered on sweeping and probably surprising its enemy with that fourth move slot which can have varying effects. Cool, huh?

Yay! I'm done with the fanart entries for 's contest. Now, I have to work on the middle stage, the actual contest piece that determines who the winner of those sweet prizes would be! I am so nervous right now!
