Fakemon TYTOMB

TYTOMB, the Grave Guard Pokémon. Often found flocking during burial ceremonies, TYTOMB will sit nearby motionless, as if watching out for something. It has an eerie blank stare due to the mask-like growth on its face, as well as its wispy flowing feathers. It is often dubbed as the "Bird of the Dead."

For a very critical reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all future ers and ers of my works.

Hoooo... Hoooo... Hoo... "The Phantom of the Owl-pera is there... inside your mind!"

A ghostly owl with a mask of the Opera Phantom, who wouldn't love that, lol! So, as correctly guessed by , here's my Post-Halloween 2010 Fakemon Silhouette #12, the Grave Guard Fakemon, Tytomb.

Obviously, it is based on a Masked Owl. The emphasis on its mask and the Ghost type are references to the Phantom of the Opera, my all-time favorite movie from a stage musical. Its name is also a reference to the genus that includes the Masked Owl, while the '-tomb' tells where it is often found. It has the habit of watching burial ceremonies, evident in its Dex entry. Quite scary if you ask me.

As Magwhizian is to Misdreavus, Tytomb is to Murkrow, so it evolves via Dusk Stone as well. It also has Insomnia and, in place of Murkrow's Super Luck, Pressure. It's not really a bird of luck, anyway, what with being present during burials. I just thought it has such a Pressure-ing look and not as much Intimidate-ing.

Tytomb's stat total is like Murkrow's, totalling at 405. However, the primary type difference [Tytomb is Ghost, Murkrow is Dark], is evident in the stats distribution. Ghost-types are HP freaks, so I gave Tytomb a little increase in design bulk, justifying its 91 HP which is Murkrow's Speed. And, yes, you guessed it, Tytomb's 60 Speed is Murkrow's HP. I just swapped them! Tytomb's defenses at 52 each are also higher than Murkrow's by 10 points. Sadly, those ten points per defensive stat were deducted from Tytomb's offensive stat at 75 each, compared to Murkrow's 85.

Tytomb's moves are also similar to Murkrow's. To enumerate, Tytomb directly inherited Murkrow's starting moves Peck and Astonish, as well as Pursuit, Wing Attack, Night Shade, Faint Attack, and Tailwind. Being Ghost-type-intensive, Tytomb learns Spite over Murkrow's Haze; Shadow Sneak over Assurance, Shadow Ball over Sucker Punch, and Destiny Bond over Quash. Instead of getting Murkrow's Taunt, Mean Look, Foul Play, and Torment, my Grave Guard Fakemon learns Yawn, Roost [justifying its habit of sitting motionlessly watching burials], Mirror Move, and Future Sight. Also, with a mask hiding its eyes, it can't really have that Mean Look at all. Brave Bird is there for its evo's use.

And so we have an HP tank with mild defenses that is also semi-offensive. Basically, it only has some Speed problem when faced with other Flying-types. Good thing we have Roost for recovery!
