25.4K Views

Description

SNEPRES, the Serpent Pokémon. In ancient times, SNEPRES are feared for being able to SWALLOW several prey at once. Its back, hard as rock, can fire SPIKE CANNONs, protecting it from attackers coming from behind.

Name Origin: SERPENS [a constellation representing "the Serpent"] spelled backwards, also an allusion to SNaP, referencing its large jaws
Type: Poison / Rock
Ability: Intimidate or Rough Skin or UnnervePDW
Evolution: Ekans ---Level 22---> Arbok ---Trade while holding Bedrock Gem---> Snepres
Moves Learned: Same movepool as Arbok, but with AncientPower after Acid Spray, Rock Blast over Mud Bomb, Spike Cannon over Haze, and Stone Edge as ultimate move after Gunk Shot, hence: Stone Edge, Gunk Shot, Coil, Haze Spike Cannon, Gastro Acid, Mud Bomb Rock Blast, AncientPower, Acid Spray, Spit Up-Swallow-Stockpile trio of moves learned at the same time, Crunch, Acid, Screech, Glare, Bite, Poison Sting, and starting moves Leer and Wrap; relearnable moves are also changed, from Arbok's Elemental Fangs to Snepres' Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, and Thrash; the Earthquake TM sounds viable for Snepres

Base Stats:
HP: 75
ATK: 115
DEF: 109
SP ATK: 65
SP DEF: 79
SPD: 95
TOTAL: 538

For a very critical reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all future :+fav:ers and :+devwatch:ers of my works. :D :D :D

So, I first had Coiled-kans, then it evolved into Gape-bok. And then, in a bizarre turn of events [well, it's just about trading it while holding the Bedrock Gem], Arbok evolved [or devolved, rather] to an ancient Fakemon feared for eating numerous prey in one gulp. For my first entry to :icondarksilvania:'s contest, I present... Snepres! :D

As this is a Fakemon, I once again get to indulge in explaining in detail everything about Snepres. To begin with, Coiled-kans represent sturdiness as it is, well, coiled and compact; the Coil Around move actually raises Attack, Defense, and Accuracy one stage each, so Coiled-kans implies Physical strength. ;) On the other hand, the Gape-bok fanart refers to Snepres' oversized jaw and viciousness. :P

Obviously, Snepres is based on a cobra, but with tough, rock-like skin from its snout and eyes down to its back, lined with several spikes. It is partly hunchback-ed with the hardened skin it carries behind, giving it a new Ability, Rough Skin, in place of Shed Skin [it's really hard to shed a craggy, rock-like skin, isn't it? :P]. Characteristic to prehistoric creatures, Snepres sports a larger lower jaw with longer fangs, as compared to its stone upper fangs. Also, its chest marking looks more ferocious with edged eyes and mouth design, more polygonal than Arbok's. It now also have an edged lower belly.

Now, let's proceed with the uncanny typing: Poison and Rock. You might be thinking, "why Rock, of all the types there is to partner Poison with?" And I say, "why not?" Lol. To be honest, I was challenging myself to make a unique Arbok evolution that is a far cry from the common Poison/Dragon and Poison/Dark snake cliché. And then, I considered the prehistoric theme of the contest, which narrowed down my choices. Poison/Grass? Nah. Grass/Poison-types are too common already. Poison/Ground! Hmmm... It is quite contradictory, plus there isn't much Ground-type moves fit for a slippery snake [no, Onix is not slippery ^^;]. Poison/Ice! Really, no snake would survive the Ice Age. Poison/Rock? Yeah, Poison/Rock, sounds unique and viable enough for me! :)

Move-wise, Snepres is as trapped a Fakemon as Carnitrex is, based on their evolution method, trade while holding Bedrock Gem. As with my Triple Mouth Fakemon, Snepres gets access to AncientPower, a standard move for prehistoric Pokémon. Arbok's Mud Bomb hardened and became Snepres' Rock Blast [lol, ingenious, eh?]. Arbok's Haze says bye-bye, giving way to Snepres' Spike Cannon, as it has spikes on its back akin to Cloyster, Omastar, and Corsola. The original Rock Snake Onix shares its ultimate Rock-type move with Snepres, which is Stone Edge. Freaky! :)

In addition to learned moves, Snepres can also relearn Stealth Rock [from Onix], Toxic Spikes [from Drapion and Cloyster], and Thrash [from Gyarados]. Relearning with Snepres is a bit tricky, as it has a different set of relearnable moves than Arbok's Elemental Fangs. The trick here is to relearn those fangs [if you want to keep them] before evolving Arbok into Snepres, since they have almost the same level-up moveset. ;)

Snepres' 538 stat total is rather unique, an exact 100-point growth, as Arbok is the only one who has 438 stat total. The biggest growth Snepres received is a 40-point increase in Defense, bringing its Defense to a high 109 [a high stat value considering Snepres' rock-hard exterior]. However, evolving via trade with Bedrock Gem would mean its Attack should be highest, so Snepres' second highest stat growth is on Attack, with a 30-point increase from Arbok's 85 to a huge 115. Its 95 Speed and 75 HP is third in line, growing by a good 15 points each. "So that's 40 + 30 + 15 + 15, which equals 100! Woah, woah, woah! What happened to Arbok's 65 Special Attack and 79 Special Defense?" you might wonder. Well, nothing happened. ^^; Yeah, nothing happened. Snepres gets the same 65 and 79 points on those stats. :P

Snepres is a ferocious Physical Sweeper serpent with those stats and those moves. Just mix STABbed Stone Edge [or Rock Blast] and Gunk Shot with any of the following: Arbok's Elemental Fangs [Fire, Ice, or Thunder], Spike Cannon, relearnable Thrash, or Earthquake via TM. You can also go with the Stockpile-Spit Up-Swallow trio of moves for damage and recovery. However, Snepres is also a master of strategy and indirect damage. Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes are there to hinder switch-ins, while its signature move Glare as well as Gastro Acid can paralyze the opponent itself or its Ability, respectively. In addition to indirect damage is Snepres' Rough Skin Ability [stressing the trade-off with Shed Skin here], since it can now take Physical damage with ease. Just be careful when facing Ground-types, as it is twice as weak to it.

Hope you enjoyed my Serpent Fakemon as much as I enjoyed creating it, and hope it would place in the contest I am entering it into! :D :D :D

Snepres is mine, and is my entry to Darksilvania's contest!
Carnitrex is also mine!
